The Salt City Road Warriors have been running around Syracuse for a good cause since 2011, and this weekend they will be having their weekly group run at Fleet Feet Sports at 8am on Saturday morning.
The SCRW meet weekly as a group for team runs on Saturday mornings from February through June. Members pledge to raise a minimum of $200 for the Upstate Medical Foundation.
Rather than limit their efforts to fighting the same disease every year, SCRW decided to battle the leading causes of death in the US. We started at the top and working our way down, in effect “waging war against disease.”
This year The Salt City Road Warriors funds will target the #1 and #2 causes of death in the US; heart disease and cancer (specifically lung). This year we will be participating as a team in the Tipp Hill Shamrock Run/Walk, the Mountain Goat Run, and the Lake Placid Full or Half Marathon.
The Salt City Road Warriors are still accepting 2013 participants. If you are interested come check them out this Saturday at 8 AM. The group’s running pace has a broad range and there is a spot for everyone.
