Snowshoeing is one of the fastest growing outdoor activities in the world today! Want part of the action but feel lost as to what's available out there?  Fleet Feet Syracuse offers two top-notch American made brands that will get you on the right trail: Dion & Crescent Moon. 

 There are three simple elements to any snowshoe: frame, binding and cleat.  Each brand, Dion and Crescent Moon offers something a little different, for around the same price point ($249).

Dion
Dion snowshoes are modular. Custom snowshoe can be built to suit specific wants and needs.  Dion has many different options for frames, bindings and cleats to choose from.  Parts can be changed to suit various trail conditions; whether hiking in the mountains or walking on packed trails.  Worn parts or possible upgrades can also be easily replaced without having to buy an entirely new snowshoe.  

Frames: Snowshoe Racing, Recreational/Fitness, and Back-Country Hiking.  Selection depends on user weight and snow conditions.  Frames are made of very light aluminum alloys and have teflon coated heel cleats that help prevent snow and ice buildup.  Each frame differs in how much surface area is provided with the snowshoe, depending on activity. 

Bindings: secure-fit and quick-fit.  Each binding is available in regular and large size (different strap lengths).  Secure-fit bindings are good for hiking and running.  Quick-fit bindings hold very tight as well, but use a special type of hook and loop that makes the bindings very easy to put on and take off.  

Cleats: ice (stainless steel and used for rocky terrain and ice), standard (groomed trails) and deep (best for deeper snow).  All cleats are made of aircraft aluminum and have teflon coating to help prevent ice and snow buildup.

Crescent Moon
Crescent Moon comes pre-assembled and has many different options for features. No matter which Crescent Moon snowshoe you choose, what makes Crescent Moon stand out is their single pull loop binding.  The all foot encompassing binding system is made of a flexible polymer which wraps around your foot and provides excellent support and comfort and will not come out of adjustment. It is a quick and easy entry and exit even with gloves on.  Frames are made of an earth friendly polyurethane material and are lightweight and durable.  Crescent Moon is the only snowshoe with a toe claw on the bottom.  They have positioned three crampons to dig in not only at the heel and ball but also the toe; giving you complete control on any terrain.

Crescent Moon has two different series to choose from: Gold and Silver. Fleet Feet exclusively carries the Gold Series. There are three styles available, each can accommodate different weights and snow conditions.
