Runners of all levels can benefit from proper nutrition to improve performance and get the most out of a workout. Eating to run is much different than running to burn calories that you’ve already eaten. Athletes need a special type of energy to sustain long training runs and recover properly. You will learn how to eat properly throughout your training, how to eat during taper and how to refuel when you are racing or on a training run. And, if you’re new to running you should learn how to fuel your body the right way for this new activity. In addition, the HOLIDAYS are right around the corner and the second half of this clinic will focus on how to navigate all the holiday temptations without compromising the healthy habits you're trying to establish.
This one-hour presentation will feature Katina Sayers-Walker, Ed.D. who has an extensive background in health and education that began with degrees in exercise physiology, health and physical education, community health, and culminating with a doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction. She completed her Integrative Nutrition and Health Coaching Certification, from the world's top nutrition experts, at the renowned Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). Additionally, she is the Nutrition & Health Project Manager at Elmcrest Children's Center in Syracuse. She is a 3-time national medalist in the disciplines of mountain bike and cyclocross who can be seen on almost a daily basis riding the hills and trails in and around Tully Valley. She relies on a well-rounded diet to fuel her athletic adventures.
After the seminar, there will be vendors on hand with samples for you to try and to answer your questions about the products. There will be in-store deals for all clinic attendees.
