Fleet Feet Sports offers a variety of training programs for runners and walkers in Central New York including: Cold Feet Winter Training Program Do you get cold feet when it comes to keeping a commitment to winter running? We are here to help. This year we are happy to introduce Fleet Feet’s Cold Feet Winter Running Program. Beginning on Sunday, November 30 we will be holding free group runs from the store each Sunday morning at 8:30 AM. The doors will open at 8 AM. Distances will vary with different options each week and pace groups will be formed to accommodate runners of all abilities. In addition to the benefit of having a group, the Cold Feet Winter Training Program will feature an incentive system in which points can be earned for attending the group runs, running with another group member during the week, participating in a winter race and participating in a snowshoe race. Prizes to be earned include water bottles, socks, technical shirts, gym bags and free shoes. Refreshments will be available after each group run. If you want to win prizes, stay active and meet new people this winter season, come join us on Sunday mornings at Fleet Feet. Check back soon for more details. Fleet Feet Sports Marathon Training Program This 12-week program is designed to help those training for a fall marathon or those looking for a group run. The program starts in mid-July and ends in mid-October. The runs take place at 7:30 AM from the Boat House at Green Lakes State Park. Pace groups are formed and routes are designed to et to Fleet Feet Sports energy stops every 4-5 miles. A combinatin of smooth trails, lake trails and low-traffic roads are used each week. This is a free program and you can come any week you wish. Participants can run any distance they want and can adjust the weekly distance to meet their training schedule. In 2008 over 150 runners used the Fleet Feet Sports Marathon Training Program to help them achieve their goals. In addition, monthly in-store marathon clinics are held at Fleet Feet. Fleet Feet Mountain Goat Training Series The 2009 Mountain Goat Training Runs will be held on 6 consecutive Saturdays starting March 21st. The Syracuse Track Club will be conducting the runs again this year and will be joined by race sponsor Brooks Sports. Participants meet at the MOST in Armory Square. Doors open at 7:30AM, instructions are at 8AM and the run starts at 8:05AM. Last year over 700 people per week came to the weekly training runs. Pace groups of 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 minutes per mile will be formed. PowerBar Energy stops featuring water and PowerBar Endurance Drink, The Official Energy Drink of The Mountain Goat will be provided on the course. If you’ve ever had the desire to run a 5K race, but lacked the knowledge or motivation to train for it, here’s your chance to get started as a runner in a welcoming and fun group environment. Our popular No Boundaries Begin to Run program is designed for those with little to no running experience who would like to complete their first 5K road race. It is a ten-week, coached training program that includes a weekly group run.
